Program Overview
Rope suspended platforms — also known as swing stages, gondolas, bosun's chairs, or suspended scaffolds — are essential for work on high-rise building facades, bridge structures, dam faces, and industrial chimneys. They place workers at extreme heights, suspended by ropes and mechanical systems, with very little margin for equipment failure or operational error. ICLM's Rope Suspended Platform Safety Training delivers the technical knowledge and practical skills to operate these systems safely, inspect them thoroughly, and respond to emergencies effectively.
Workers on rope suspended platforms face a convergence of severe hazards: falls from height, rope or wire failure, platform instability, weather exposure, mechanical failure of hoisting equipment, and the catastrophic consequences of working at extreme heights. Rescue from a suspended platform following equipment failure or worker incapacitation is technically complex and requires advance planning. Every operator of suspended platforms must be comprehensively trained.
