Half-Day Training

Practical half-day certification program focused on operational safety, compliance confidence, and site-level risk control.

Program Overview

Power presses — mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic — are among the most productive and most dangerous machines in manufacturing. Stamping, punching, blanking, and forming operations generate enormous forces that can sever fingers and hands in milliseconds. Despite decades of regulatory attention, power press accidents continue to cause amputations and fatalities in metalworking, automotive, electronics, and packaging industries. ICLM's Power Press Safety Training equips operators, supervisors, and safety professionals with the knowledge to operate presses safely and maintain effective safeguarding systems.

Power press injuries typically occur during three activities: operating the press when a guard is bypassed or malfunctions; feeding material manually when a guard is absent; and performing maintenance or die changes without proper lockout. Many victims are experienced operators — familiarity and time pressure are contributing factors in the majority of press-related amputations.

Types of Power Presses: Mechanical (flywheel-driven), hydraulic, pneumatic, and servo presses — their operating principles and differences.

Module 02

Press Components: Frame, bed, ram, bolster, die space, clutch, brake, control system, and safety devices — identification and function.

Module 03

Hazard Points: Point of operation, power transmission components, and pinch points — where injuries occur and why.

Module 04

Machine Guarding Systems: Fixed guards, interlocked guards, two-hand controls, light curtains, and presence-sensing devices — selection and safe use.
