Half-Day Training

Practical half-day certification program focused on operational safety, compliance confidence, and site-level risk control.

Program Overview

Piling operations are fundamental to the construction of bridges, high-rise buildings, port facilities, and infrastructure projects worldwide. Piling machines — including hydraulic impact hammers, vibratory hammers, auger boring machines, and rotary drilling rigs — are among the most powerful and potentially hazardous equipment on any construction site. ICLM's Piling Machine Operation and Safety Training develops technically competent and safety-conscious piling machine operators and supervisors.

Piling operations present a unique combination of hazards: heavy equipment in close proximity to workers, vibration and noise, underground utility strikes, pile handling and rigging, collapse of adjacent ground, and the risk of drowning or engulfment in augered holes. Without structured training and rigorous operational discipline, piling sites carry significant risk of fatal and serious incidents.

Pre-Use Checks

Daily inspection discipline and hazard spotting basics.

Control Principles

Safe methods, sequencing, and decision making in operations.

Emergency Response

Incident communication and immediate response actions.

Core Learning Modules

Module 01

Types of Piling: Driven piles (steel H-piles, concrete, timber), bored/auger piles, CFA (continuous flight auger), sheet piling.

Module 02

Piling Machine Types: Hydraulic impact hammers, diesel hammers, vibratory drivers/extractors, rotary drilling rigs, and CFA equipment: components.

Module 03

Pre-Operation Inspection: Systematic daily checks of the machine structure, hydraulic systems, leads, hammer, cables, and safety devices.

Module 04

Ground Investigation: Understanding ground investigation reports: soil profiles, groundwater levels.

Module 05

Underground Services: Mandatory utility search and clearance before commencing piling; trial holes, CAT scanning, and service avoidance procedures.

Module 06

Pile Setup and Alignment: Positioning the machine, setting up leads, maintaining pile vertical alignment, and checking pile position against drawings.
