Program Overview
Occupational diseases claim millions of lives annually — far exceeding the toll of workplace accidents. From silicosis in miners to occupational asthma in painters, asbestosis in construction workers, and dermatitis in healthcare personnel, work-related illnesses develop over months or years of exposure to workplace hazards. ICLM's Occupational Disease and Prevention Training provides workers, supervisors, and health professionals with the knowledge to identify exposure risks, implement preventive controls, and detect early signs of occupational illness.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) estimate that work-related diseases account for the majority of all work-related deaths. Unlike traumatic injuries, occupational diseases are often invisible in their early stages, develop slowly, and are frequently attributed to lifestyle factors rather than workplace exposures. This makes early recognition and systematic prevention all the more critical.
