Half-Day Training

Practical half-day certification program focused on operational safety, compliance confidence, and site-level risk control.

Program Overview

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is the safety procedure that prevents the unexpected energization, startup, or release of stored energy during maintenance and servicing activities. Every year, failure to properly isolate hazardous energy results in worker deaths and amputations from machinery that suddenly activates during maintenance. ICLM's Lockout/Tagout Procedures Training is an essential, regulatory-required program that saves lives.

Hazardous energy takes many forms: electrical circuits, hydraulic pressure, pneumatic systems, mechanical gravity (suspended loads), thermal energy (steam, heat), and chemical pressure. During maintenance, repair, or cleaning activities, each of these energy sources must be properly identified, isolated, and verified as zero-energy before work begins. LOTO is the internationally recognized system for achieving this.

Pre-Use Checks

Daily inspection discipline and hazard spotting basics.

Control Principles

Safe methods, sequencing, and decision making in operations.

Core Learning Modules

Module 01

The LOTO Principle: Why LOTO is required, its regulatory basis (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147, ISO 45001, and local equivalents), and the cost of non-compliance

Module 02

Types of Hazardous Energy: Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, gravitational, thermal, and chemical energy: identification.

Module 03

LOTO Devices: Padlocks, hasps, lockout stations, valve lockouts, circuit breaker locks, plug covers, and group lockout boxes.
