Program Overview
The transportation of dangerous goods is one of the most heavily regulated
activities in the global economy - and for very good reason. From the chlorine tanker accident that
threatens a community's water supply, to the lithium battery fire that grounds an aircraft, to the
improperly packed explosive device that detonates in a warehouse - the consequences of getting dangerous
goods transportation wrong can be catastrophic at multiple levels: human, environmental, financial, and
reputational.
Dangerous goods regulations exist across three primary transport modes, each governed by its own
comprehensive regulatory framework: the ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of
Dangerous Goods by Road), the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for air transport, and the IMDG Code
(International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) for sea transport. Each of these frameworks is built on the UN
Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (the 'Orange Book'), and all share a common foundation
of classification, packaging, marking, labelling, placarding, and documentation requirements.
ICLM's Dangerous Goods Transportation Regulations Training provides logistics professionals, shippers, freight forwarders, drivers, and warehouse handlers with a comprehensive and practical understanding of all applicable regulatory requirements. Our training is regularly updated to reflect the latest biennial revision cycles of ADR and IMDG and the annual IATA DGR revision, ensuring participants always work with current, accurate regulatory knowledge.
