Program Overview
Electricity is the silent hazard on every worksite. In India, electrical accidents - including electric shock, arc flash, and fire caused by electrical faults - are a leading cause of workplace fatalities in both construction and manufacturing. Yet most electrical accidents involve workers who are not electricians, simply because they work near energised systems without adequate understanding of the risks involved.
ICLM's Basic Electrical Safety Training is designed for non-electrical workers, supervisors, and EHS professionals who need a comprehensive understanding of electrical hazards and how to avoid them. The programme covers safe work practices around electrical systems, the correct use of electrical PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and compliance with the Indian Electricity Act and Factories Act 1948.
Benefits & Outcomes
Upon completion, participants understand the invisible dangers of electricity, know how to perform electrical safety checks on portable tools, and can implement LOTO procedures to prevent re-energisation during maintenance. Organisations significantly reduce the risk of electrical fatalities and arc flash incidents, demonstrate compliance with the Factories Act 1948 and IE Act 2003, and build a workforce that actively manages electrical risk - one of the highest-consequence hazard categories in Indian industry.
