Program Overview
Ammonia is one of the most widely used industrial chemicals in India — present in cold storage facilities, fertiliser plants, refrigeration systems, and chemical manufacturing units. It is also one of the most dangerous. A single ammonia leak can result in mass casualties, environmental damage, and criminal liability for employers who have not taken adequate precautions.
ICLM's Ammonia Handling and Emergency Response Training provides a complete, scenario-based learning experience for workers and safety professionals who work in proximity to ammonia systems. Drawing on Indian chemical safety regulations, the Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemical (MSIHC) Rules 1989, and international best practices, this course transforms reactive responders into proactive safety leaders.
Benefits & Outcomes
By completing this training, participants develop the situational awareness and technical skills to prevent ammonia incidents and manage emergencies with speed and precision. Organisations reduce the risk of major accident hazards (MAH), improve compliance with the Environment Protection Act and MSIHC Rules, and build the internal capacity to conduct regular emergency drills — a requirement increasingly enforced by State Pollution Control Boards and factory inspectorates across India.
Pre-Use Checks
Daily inspection discipline and hazard spotting basics.
Control Principles
Safe methods, sequencing, and decision making in operations.
Emergency Response
Incident communication and immediate response actions.
